Touring Galveston
We’re glad to have you visiting us here at the Stella Mare RV Resort here in Galveston. Ideal beach weather is starting to recede as fall descends up on us. There are still some great days, don’t get us wrong!
However, you might start thinking about what other things you can do when you’re visiting us here. Fortunately for you, there’s plenty of things that you can do. In fact, there may be too many, especially if you’re touring Galveston on your own itinerary. Let us help you narrow down your search.
Touring Galveston’s Public Art
Galveston has some of the best public art that you’ll find in the country. There are some pieces that are just too good to miss. A great place to start is a replica of the Chartes design, the Moody Methodist Labyrinth. Closer to the beach, you’ll find the 1900 Storm Memorial by David W. Moore.
This bronze sculpture is a monument to the 6,000 Galvestonians that died and those who survived the 1900 Storm. You should also see at least one of the Rosenberg Fountains that dot the area. Donated by Henry Rosenberg, a Swiss banker and philanthropist, they were intended to supply water for thirsty people, horses, dogs, and cats.
Ghostly Tour of the Town
It’s that time of year when the mind turns toward the macabre. If you want to indulge yourself in this sensation, consider joining Dash Beardsley’s Ghost Tours of Galveston. He offers several different types of tours of the town.
The original Ghost Tour, the Restless Spirit Tour, and the Secret Society Cemetery Tour. The first two take you through the Strand, but the Restless Spirit Tour is a little darker and may not be appropriate for children.
