Celebrate the New Year with Galveston Restaurant Week

Foodies in South Texas will be pleased to know that Galveston’s restaurant week is much longer than 7 days.

If you’re looking to delight your palate, come discover the art of dining during Galveston’s nearly month-long restaurant week, from January 17 – February 13, 2022. The event has become a beloved local tradition, featuring discounted prix fixe menus from a wide variety of Galveston’s best restaurants.

It’s easy to participate; there are no tickets to buy. Simply take your pick of participating restaurants and dig in! Reservations are highly recommended, as this event is popular with visitors and locals alike. Prices for 2- or 3-course menus are $20-$45, while 2-course breakfasts, brunches, and lunches will be $10-$20, depending on the restaurant.

This is also your opportunity to give to local charities. When ordering select menu items, a donation of $1-$5 will be donated by the restaurant and distributed to local community groups. The charities are Access Care of Coastal Texas, Galveston Urban Ministries, and St. Vincent’s House; all who focus on supporting the nutrition and health of local children and families.

There are dozens of Galveston restaurants participating; click this link for the full list of participants. Here are just some of the highlights:

Mosquito Café. A trendy café with an eclectic menu in a warm, casual atmosphere, with friendly service and chalkboard specials, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Filet Mignon tacos and the Crabby Mosquito are house favorites.

Shrimp ‘N Stuff Downtown. This eating spot has been a favorite of the locals since 1976. Dig in to some delicious po-boys, gumbo, and salads, along with broiled salmon, flounder, and several other varieties of fish.

The Original Mexican Café. Come see what all the fuss is about in Galveston’s longest continually operating restaurant. Using only the freshest quality ingredients, they use a special blend of spices to create the sauces for their delectable authentic Mexican menu.

BLVD Seafood. The first restaurant in Galveston to offer “boat to table” dining, their menu features fresh and wild Gulf seafood, with daily creations expertly thought up and prepared by their chef. It is casual dining with a Gulf view at its finest.

Hearsay on the Strand. Be transported to a different era the minute you step through Hearsay’s doors. Sip on a specialty crafted cocktail while dining on America’s best-loved dishes, as you embark on a culinary experience where past and present collide.

Hubcap Grill. Voted as having the best burger in Houston, this popular eatery is now located on Galveston’s famous Strand. A great family restaurant, they use only 100% fresh chuck beef, never frozen, and their homemade fresh-cut fries are fried twice for good measure.

Saltwater Grill. Consistently serving the freshest seafood from the Gulf, the Atlantic, and the Pacific, this restaurant prides itself in serving healthier preparation choices of their menu, including grilled, broiled, and steamed fish.

Sky Bar Steak & Sushi. Along with their famous grain-fed angus beef and exotic sushi menu, Sky Bar offers made-to-order soups and other non-sushi items that push the limits of creativity. Their vegetarian options are a delight.

Taquilo’s Tex-Mex Cantina. Authentic south-of-the-border fare is Taquilo’s specialty, with made-to-order guacamole and ceviche. Pair that with the perfect chicken, shrimp, or certified Angus beef dish in a fun, upbeat atmosphere, and you have the makings of a perfect meal.
