Shopping for Art – Galleries in Galveston
Galveston Arts Center
Now through Jan 3, 2021 – Galveston Arts Center (GAC) presents Going Through a Phrase, a group exhibition of text-based works by Alicia Eggert, Candace Hicks, Stephanie Patton, Andrea Tosten, and Rachelle Vasquez on view in the main gallery. Through neon signage, calligraphy, and textiles, each artist employs familiar fonts and shapes to communicate ideas, warnings, personal reflections, and social commentary. By bringing words into physical form, these works disrupt the constant flow of information we receive in the modern world, inviting viewers into a visual conversation.
Fossil Galaxy Gallery
A most unusual gallery showcasing genuine rare fossils, geodes, meteorites, fossil furniture and minerals from all over the world, as well as jewelry and gifts. Knowledgeable owners bring joy to every interaction.
Third Coast Gallery
Since 1985, visitors have loved this gallery’s exhibits depicting Galveston and the Texas Gulf Coast. From the wetlands to the urban landscapes, from the shore birds to the historic architecture… this is the place to find that special piece of art that you’ve been looking for.
Zoom! Countdown to Christmas
- Reading, writing, and story-telling is an art too. Rosenberg Library opens a children’s book and reads it with you and your family over Zoom every day the library is open until Christmas. Hi-speed WiFi at Stella Mare RV Resort make it possible to enjoy this service right here in the park.
- Reading an additional story is easy. If you want to hear a Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, or other winter celebration book, let the storyteller of the day know. Libraries are for everyone. We value all cultural experiences.

The Arts District and Rosenberg Library have something special for everyone on your list, including calligraphy, paintings, fossils, and story time.
