Winter is just about over (not that our weather is that cold!) but it’s always so nice when the birds start singing and you can feel the warmer air approaching. The world starts to come alive again and people want to get out and celebrate.
There’s much to do in the Galveston area to usher in the end of ol’ man winter. Here are just some of the top events you won’t want to miss.
Galveston Craft Show – March 19 & 20 at the Galveston Island Convention Center
You don’t have to love crafts to enjoy this family-friendly show. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or someone else, this is the place to be. Handmade items by local and regional vendors in all manner of products including home décor, jewelry, soap-making items and so much more. Plus, live music will keep you entertained, so bring a friend or the entire crew.
Easter Sunday Brunch – April 17th at Moody Gardens
Enjoy an amazing classic Easter Brunch with family and friends without lifting a finger to prepare the meal! Moody Gardens’ chefs are whipping up an incredible spread with delectable items you’d never consider having for the Easter meal. Galveston Historic Homes Tour – May 7, 8, 14, 15
This historical homes tour is back in 2022 with a fascinating array of architectural history. Tours are open to the public of private homes that have been lovingly cared for through Galveston’s illustrious history. For tickets, please visit the website. Several events coincide with the tours for a well-rounded experience encompassing sites around the island.
Texas Crab Festival – May 6 – 8 at Festival Park
On Mother’s Day weekend, bring Mom to this annual festival. Even if she’s not a seafood fan, she and the entire family will have fun with all of the carnival rides, arts and crafts, a gumbo cook off, live music, and more! Seafood lovers will delight in sampling crab specialties from several vendors.
Galveston Island Beach Revue – May 14 at the Seawall
The annual beach revue is almost an institution here in Galveston. Based on island events from seasons long past such as the Pageant of Pulchritude of 1920 and Splash Day, the beach revue was resurrected into a contemporary two-day, family-friendly event back in 2009. Since then, the revue continues to grow every year through contestant participation culminating in the Bathing Beauties contest and other fun events. It is the official “kickoff to Summer” event here in Galveston.
World Oceans Day – June 8th at Stewart Beach
While this is an “unofficial” day, people worldwide nonetheless come together to celebrate, learn about, and do their part to help our oceans. And also right here in Galveston! The festival draws vendors and participants from near and far as we recognize how important it is to keep the big waters healthy.
